Transition Information

Foundation Transition:

Our new Foundation students for the following year will be notified of their enrolment with a letter in August.

Students and their parents/carers will then attend a Foundation Transition Interview with the Principal in October. This session is an information gathering session for the school and allows parents or carers to share any information that will enable the school to best support the student at school. The new student will complete some simple activities to be shared with the classroom teacher.

In November we hold 3 weeks of Foundation Transition Sessions where students for the following year will attend one session per week in small groups. These sessions are designed for teachers to get to know the students and how they might work in a classroom setting. For the third of these sessions all Foundation students for the following year come in together and participate in a Physical Education and a Digital Technology session. Parents and carers are invited to an information session with the Foundation teachers during this time.

Early in December our new Foundation students participate in the state wide Orientation Day. On this day they will attend school from 9:00am until 1:30pm and will be with their teachers and students that they will be in a class with the following year.

Extra transition sessions can be arranged for students where these are necessary through discussions with the principal.

Transition for students in other year levels:

Early in December our students participate in the state wide Orientation Day. On this day they will be placed in their classes that they will be in for the following year from 9:00am until 1:30pm. Students will be with their teachers and students for the following year. After lunch they return to their usual classrooms.

Our Year 6 students spend this day at their chosen secondary school.

Extra transition sessions can be arranged for students where these are necessary through discussions with the principal.

Transition for students from another school:

For students who are wishing to attend All Saints from another school the parents or carers must arrange a meeting with the principal to discuss enrolment and a tour of the school. This meeting will also act as an information sharing session between the principal and parents/carers.
